Basketball

Well basketball season finally started on Saturday. Collin and Carter are playing on the same team this year. They spend the first 30 minutes doing drills and the last 30 minutes playing a game. This is Carter's first official year of playing and he woke up Saturday morning exclaiming that "today is his first real game". It's very cute watching them play; they are always looking for the other to pass to.

We spent our morning at home opening presents from Santa and eachother. Then we got ready to go to church at Mimi's and Papa's. After church we ate some tasty grub before opening the mounds of presents at their house. The boys had a great day and thanked us multiple times. Thank you to everyone who made our holiday extra special! Before the troops came down.

We got back from Disneyland a couple of weeks ago. September is a great time to go. The boys loved it and Logan and I really enjoy going too. Collin mostly wanted to go on all the big-kid rides, Carter stuck to the less scary rides, and poor Hunter wanted to go on everything, but was too short most of the time. Maybe next year!

Carter is playing soccer and loves it. It is really fun watching him play. He's quite aggressive and usually scores a couple of goals.

First Day of School!

In August, Collin started his first day of Kindergarten. He told me on the way there that he was a little bit nervous and a little bit excited. When I picked him up he said, "Kindergarten is awesome! I'm definitely going back tomorrow!"

Cowabunga Fun!

In early August my grandparents and little sis from Alabama, McKenzie, met us for the day at the new Cowabunga water park. The kids had been dying to go for some time and Logan had the day off so it worked out perfectly. I think Logan and Amanda enjoyed the slides the most and the little boys loved floating along the lazy river and playing in the pool area. It was really fun and the boys keep talking about it!

Collin's fifth birthday finally arrived on August 13th; he patiently waited (well sort of) for it as he attended numerous birthday parties for other family members in the prior months. His last day of swim lessons was that morning and Logan came to watch with a few dozen donuts in hand. Afterwards, Logan took Collin out for a special birthday lunch. That evening we opened presents and went out to eat at Red Robin.

On Friday we had a splash party with a hot dog barbeque and to die for cupcakes with family and a couple of friends. The kids had a great time and the looming dark clouds didn't open up until the very end of the party so everyone was happy!

A lot has happened in the past couple of months and I have much to blog about. The biggest event is that we have moved AGAIN. . . to Utah this time! Our computer protested the move and refused to work once we arrived, but we have bought another one and I plan on posting like crazy in the very near future. Until then my friends!

Dad's Day

Collin had his annual Dad's Day at his preschool in April. It's on a Saturday morning for a couple of hours in which the fathers get to go see their child's classroom, see what they have been learning, hang out, and eat treats. Papa was in town so after Collin's early morning soccer game, he, Pops, and Logan went and checked it out. Collin was very excited about it!

It Felt Like Home!

In April, Logan and I were able to go back to New York City. He had to go for work on a Monday and Tuesday, so we arrived on Saturday morning so we could spend the weekend there too. We stayed in a fancy 4.5 star hotel a couple of blocks away from Rockefeller Plaza and had a great time!

We did a ton of fun stuff; I was quite tired from all of the running around. On Saturday we went to the Empire State Building (something I never did the whole time I lived there), went to our old neighborhood on the Upper West Side - where there happened to be a street fair going on (I have very fond memories of those), walked along Riverside Park where we use to take the boys almost every day, went to Canal Street (just picture lots of hidden rooms filled with Coach and Louis Vuitton purses), and out to eat at some of our favorite spots.

On Sunday we finally got to eat a Norma's breakfast before heading over to our old ward where we saw many of our friends. Later we met up with some of Logan's business school buddies in which we roamed the streets of Soho and had more tasty food.

On Monday I went to Live with Regis and Kelly, visited with my old coworkers at Roosevelt Hospital, went to Bloomingdales and Planet Kids (I had giftcards I had been holding on to in the hopes I would get back to NYC some day), and hung out in Times Square. The worst rain storm I have every seen there happened that day and I got drenched! My pants were wet up to my thighs, but at least I didn't have to push a double stroller around in it (I don't have fond memories of that).

Tuesday I went to The View, back to Canal Street, got a manicure/pedicure, and went to the Broadway play The Little Mermaid. Logan was busy with work the last two days, but we were able to meet up at night together.

We were in and out of there in a New York minute, but we look forward to when we can bring the boys back someday!

Carter had his birthday a couple of weeks ago (April 24th) and boy was he excited about it! He really understood what was going on this year. Mimi and Papa came from Utah to help us celebrate also. Logan took the day off from work so that morning he took Carter to go get donuts for everyone. Then while Collin was at school and Hunter was taking a nap, Carter and I went shopping for birthday party supplies and then we went to Color Me Mine. It's a pottery painting place and he had a great time. He picked out a "pirate plate" and away he painted.

Carter was dying to open his presents so we did that before naps. He got some great things; thank you to everyone who sent something. He was thrilled (and so was I)! That evening we went to Red Robin for dinner, which he loves. His face was priceless when the waiters sung to him.

His birthday party was the next day. We had a couple families get together at the park where we played on the swings, decorated bags to collect candy in from the pinata, opened presents, and ate cupcakes.

We love our little Carter soooo much and had a great few days of celebrating!

Hunter at One Year

Now he's almost 13 months, but oh well. My little Hunter is such a fun little guy right now. At one year, Hunter:

We had a fun Easter day. The boys woke up to filled baskets and eggs hidden around the house. They loved it! The Easter Bunny left them new ties, watches, and church DVDs which they were very excited about. They love the Living Scriptures movies. We also discussed the true meaning of Easter and Collin knew all about it. We went to church (and I totally forgot to take a picture of the boys all dressed up) and then spent the rest of the day relaxing together.

Hunter turned one on Saturday (the 4th). We spent the day going to soccer, doing an Easter egg hunt, running errands, taking naps, eating out, opening presents, and having cake. Hunter loved being sung 'Happy Birthday' to; he would get a huge grin on his face and bounce up and down. He enjoyed the day, but I think Collin and Carter enjoyed it even more! They were so excited for Hunter.

This is what I got at Walgreens this week and the best part is that they paid me for all of it. That's right, after the manufacturer's and the store's coupons, rebates, and register rewards, I got all of this for free plus money back on a gift card. All of this should have cost $108.28!

Also, this is what I got at Walmart for only $0.63 (kids not included)! This is my kind of fun!

For some reason my kids, especially Collin, are very fond of St. Patrick's Day. Collin randomly talks about it during the year and nonstop since March arrived. To everyone's excitement, a couple of sneaky Leprechauns visited our house yesterday. They turned our scrambled eggs green at breakfast, our cornbread green at dinner, and then left the boys green M&M's before bed. Maybe next year we'll catch one!

Logan bought the boys a Davy Crockett DVD not too long ago and now it's the latest craze around here. My mom bought them coonskin hats for Valentine's Day so they are either running around the house wearing those 'chasing Indians' or they are the Indians chasing after buffalo with their axes! It's quite loud and crazy, but fun to watch.

Hunter started army crawling last week and now has progressed to using his hands and knees. We all cheer him on when he's doing it and he gets a huge grin on his face and gets super excited. Now he's all over the place; his favorite is the refridgerator, where all the magnets and artwork are!

One of Those Days

It all started this morning when I took the van into the shop to get a problem fixed. I was supposed to drop it off at 10 a.m. and they were going to shuttle the boys and me back to the house right away. Well, after one hour of waiting they decided to have me drive the van back home with one of their servicemen who was going to then drive it back to the shop. One hour! That is sooooo long with three active little guys. I exhausted all measures trying to keep them entertained. We played I Spy, we counted, I pulled stickers out my purse, I pulled tic-tacs out of my purse, we looked at pictures in magazines, and we walked to a nearby bakery. I think the employees finally felt sorry for me. I was not very happy! As soon as we got home I had to squeeze three car seats in the back of our little commuter car so I could get to the gym before childwatch closed. Unfortunately I only got to workout for 30 minutes, but I still went; I had a lot of steam to burn.

The rest of the day consisted of short naps, the car place calling to tell me they could not find the problem with the van and saying they needed to keep it overnight, and kids needing to get outside and run around. So I packed the sardines in and away we went. After too much sand throwing, I piled the kids back into the car and we went to Wendy's for dinner. I'm pretty sure the meal I had originally planned on making would have taken too long to prepare before somebody, or everybody, would have been in tears over one thing or another before it was done. But now the boys are in bed, Logan's on his way home from work, and I'm in my jammies ready to suggle up on the couch, watch a little TV, and bite into a delicious Cadbury Egg that's been calling my name for some time now. It's just been one of those days!

Movie Night

A couple of Fridays ago, Logan came home from work and took the boys to Target. They bought a new movie, The Three Mouseketeers, and then Logan surprised them with a movie night. He set up the portable DVD player in Collin's room and snuggled them in. They loved it; we could hear them giggling from downstairs.

Monterey Bay, California

For the President's Day holiday, we loaded up the van and headed to Monterey Bay. We've been wanting to go there for awhile and it is actually not too far from us. It rained on and off, but we still had a lot of fun. The first day we went to the Dennis the Menace Park, drove the 17 Mile Drive (Poppy Hills Golf Course, Pebble Beach Golf Course where the Pro-Am was taking place, and Carmel), wandered some of the nearby beaches, went swimming, and went out to eat.

We spent our last day at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It is huge and has lots of fun things to see and do. The boys had a blast running from one area to another. We spent about four hours there and then headed back home.

We spent the day going to Collin's basketball game and mostly just hanging out together at home (which means lots of wrestling with Daddy). We get the boys haircuts and took them out to dinner. We also have a tradition of making chocolate covered strawberries, yum!

Snow Fun!

These are the last of the pictures from our Utah trip. It snowed a ton while we were there and Collin wanted to play in it constantly. The big guys (Logan and two uncles) went out with the little boys one day and built a snow cave for them. I'm not too sure who had more fun, the adults ended up outlasted the young ones. Carter decided to watch from inside; he's more like his mom and likes to keep warm.

for basketball! Collin plays every Saturday and is enjoying learning how to play. He wasn't too excited at first, but the second week his team played their first game and he scored three baskets. Once everyone cheered for him, his face lit up and now he loves it - he looks forward to it each week. Collin also has three of his buddies from church playing with him, and Logan is one of the assistant coaches which also makes playing more fun!

10 Months Old

Hunter turned ten months yesterday (the 4th). Time flies and he is getting so big. I don't have any recent growth stats. He was suppose to have a well-baby visit the first week of January, but it got rescheduled to March. I know ridiculous, right? I have a love-hate relationship with Kaiser. Anyway, here it goes. Three boys in the tub! Logan recently started putting Hunter in the bathtub with Collin and Carter. He loves it, but sometimes the older boys are a little wild, so Hunter has been bathing by himself lately.

Random Happenings

Last Thursday Collin's preschool had an open house. All of us were able to go visit his classroom and look at all of his recent artwork. He was excited to show us everything he had been working on and was also excited to see all of his school buddies.

He made a dinosaur out of clay and made up a story to go with it.

Collin also had the privilege of taking the class bear home for the weekend. He was very happy Bear got to tag along with him to the park and that Bear got to sleep in his pillow tent with him at night.

Bear came with a binder that instructed Collin to write about their adventures together and then to attach pictures of them hanging out.

Carter wanted in on the action too.

I have previously mentioned that the gym I go to has a Childwatch for the boys. On Saturday mornings Collin has basketball on the sports court and Carter chooses to go to Childwatch instead of watching Collin play. He loves it in there!

On this particular morning, he told me he was making a house with a big roof. He was quite proud of himself!

Last Wednesday was Logan's 31st birthday. The boys and I surprised him at his office with his favorite cookies (Snickerdoodles) and a veggie tray (he had mentioned that he and his coworkers wanted to eat a little healthier). Later, when he got home from work, we ate homemade pizza (his birthday request) and a homemade ice cream sandwich birthday cake and then opened presents. I think he had a great day and the boys had a really great day. They love birthday celebrations!

Christmas

A month late, but oh well! We spent Christmas in Utah. We went to Logan's parents house on Christmas Eve to open presents with his siblings and to have dinner. Afterwards we went to my mom's house for a nativity re-enactment and to open our jammies. We stayed the night there too. Christmas morning consisted of A LOT of tasty food and present opening (it takes awhile for 15 people to open presents). We were once again spoiled and truly appreciate everyone's kindness and generosity. The boys had a great time; it was so much fun watching them throughout the day. We spent the whole day lounging around, eating, and playing with new toys.

Switzerland

Logan had to go to his work headquarters in Switzerland for a week in December. At the end of the week was the super secret, but guaranteed to be fun, Christmas party. I was fortunate enough (thanks to my mom's flying benefits and extremely gracious family members willing to watch my kiddos) to join Logan for the party and a few extra days of sight-seeing. I got to ride business class, without kids, which in and of itself was a fabulous experience. I probably could have flown there and right back and been content it was so nice!

The first day I was there (Thursday), Logan's San Francisco office and I went to Lucern to wander around and go out to dinner. It was a really cute, quaint town. The picture with the lion in it was carved by the French for the Swiss after the Swiss helped the French in a war (or so I think that's how the story goes).

Friday was the highly anticipated Christmas party. The only information we were given about the party was to wear apres ski apparel. It started at the office with hors d'oeuvres. Shortly thereafter buses escorted us to a large warehouse where there was more food and some entertainment. The next stop was around the corner and there the party began. It was decorated in a Swiss Alps ski theme with cabins where you could order traditional Swiss food (fondue, mac and cheese with applesauce, etc). There were games, lots of food and drinks, and a live band. The company went all out and it was pretty fun to say the least.

The next day we slept in (no kids remember) and then hung out in Zug. This is where Logan spent January and February so he was my tour guide for the day. We also raided the luxemburgli (amazing Swiss chocolate) store Sprungli.

On Sunday we went to Bern. It was COLD, but we persevered and went looking around. There were Christmas markets set up, lots of shops to see (they have a bunch of underground stores), tasty food (crepes, waffles, sausage, cheese pies), and we climbed the Munster (old church) bell tower.

The last stop was Zurich. We decided to take a trolley tour of the city so we could see the main sights. We also did more eating, window shopping, walked the famous Bahnhofstrasse, and much more.

Logan and I had a great time. It was fun to be together and do whatever WE wanted to do. Thanks again to those who watched our boys. We really, really appreciated it!

Road-Trip!

Our second road-trip to Utah happened the first week of December. Logan was flying to Switzerland for work so my mom drove with the boys and me. We stayed in a hotel the first night. The kids love hotels, especially when grandma is with us. She always takes them swimming and then they get hot chocolate.

Collin's last soccer game and party were on the first Saturday in December, the day the boys, my mom, and I were headed to Utah again (Logan was in flight to Switzerland). The party was at Fuddruckers and there the players received their league awards. Collin got his very first trophy and medal. He was quite excited! He loved playing this year and always talks about it. He tells me all the time that he wants to have a playdate with his teammate, Mike.

Sunday Mornings

Thanksgiving 2008

We decided to drive to Utah to spend the week of Thanksgiving with Logan's family. It is always nice to go. The boys basically entertain themselves with their cousins while we're there, which was nice because I was not feeling well at all. I'm glad Logan was with us and not at work because I was not up to par. That said, we did squeeze in my sister's little boy's baby blessing, a reindeer sighting, family pictures, early (and crazy) Black Friday shopping, and picking out a Christmas tree.

*The boys were extremely excited to see "Santa's reindeer"! They were wondering where Rudolph was though.

*An early Christmas present to my mom from my sisters and me were family pictures. I think they turned out pretty good considering we had six boys under the age of four to keep happy and looking at the camera.

*We were fortunate enough to go with Mimi, Papa, and the gang to pick out their Christmas tree. We went to a tree lot and had fun goofing around.

YMCA Boo Night

The Saturday before Halloween we went to our gym's Boo Night party. It had a handful of little kid activities, a bouncy house, and a cake walk. We weren't there too long, but the boys enjoyed it and loved any excuse to get in their costumes!

The Monday before Halloween we did our annual pumpkin carving for family night. Mimi and Papa were here because they graciously accepted our plea to come watch the boys while I had to go to a work orientation from 8-5 everyday that week. The boys had a great time. Collin loves getting his hands in the goop, Carter does not. The finishing products were a scary jack-o-lantern and a pirate.

Last Saturday we went to the pumpkin patch. We went last year and the kids (and Logan) couldn't wait to go again this year. It's divided into two areas. The first area has hundreds of pumpkins and the second area is a play zone for kids (and Logan).

Six Month Check-Up

Hunter had his well-baby visit today. He received four shots, including a flu vaccine, and an oral one as well. The current stats are as follows:

Weight: 20 lb 1 oz (84%)

Height: 2'5.6" (99%)

Head Circumference: 44.7 cm (72%)

For my own journaling purposes, Hunter got his first tooth (bottom front) on September 14th. A second one shortly followed. He's a happy guy and I love him so much!

The Boo Brothers

The other morning I told the boys I had a Halloween surprise for them. They ran upstairs to find new shirts to wear. We went to the gym after getting dressed and the ladies at Childwatch said they saw their clothes and decided to call them the boo brothers (the shirts say 'Boo', but you can't see it in the pic)!

Carter doesn't have pants on because he didn't pull his pants down far enough while going potty at the gym.

We Wanna Go Back!

The boys still talk about Disneyland all the time. Collin bought a pirate treasure box there (with his own saved-up money) and Carter and he love playing pirates.

Before going to Disneyland, I wanted to help the boys make autograph books for the characters to sign. I always want to do craft projects with my kids, but time is a factor, the leftover mess is a factor, and me not being too crafty is a factor. Some day I'd like to think I will be a craft master, but for now, this is what we made. It was pretty easy for the boys to do and inexpensive, only $1 (I got the books at Target and used old scrapbooking stickers I already had)! Collin and Carter enjoyed having the characters sign them and part two of the project will be pasting the pictures of the boys with the characters next to the appropriate signature.

Disneyland!

We went to Disneyland for the first time with the boys from September 20th-26th. It was so much fun! It had been over ten years since either Logan or I had been and it's still the 'happiest place on earth'. Just ask Collin. The other day he said, "Mom, when can we go back to Disneyland? That sure was fun."

Anyway, we got a 5-day park hopper pass in which we spent 3 full days at Disneyland and 2 afternoon/evenings there (we went to the beach on those mornings). I think we rode every ride at least once. Collin's favorites were Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, and Pirates of the Carribean (he rode that one six times). Carter's favorites were Tigger and Pooh and the trains. My mom came out for three days to help us with the kids which was great. It allowed Logan and I to go on some rides together as well as some with Collin when Carter was too short to ride. Thanks mom!

Other highlights included hanging out with our good friends the Evansons, going to a character breakfast with Minnie and friends, going out to eat and having tasty treats, playing at the beach (pictures coming in the near future), and just spending good quality time together.

Each night the kids were wasted and would fall asleep in the stroller on the way back to the hotel. Hunter was a trooper considering he was dragged from one place to another. We had a great time!

Soccer Season

Collin had his first day of soccer on Saturday. He didn't enjoy it too much last year and was a little apprehensive about going this year. We signed him up at the YMCA (the same place where he had his sports camp) so we convinced him to go try it out. He LOVED it! He got his new shirt, found his team, and started practicing. The first 1/2 hour was spent doing skills and the last 1/2 hour was spent playing a game. He scored the only goal and the look on his face was priceless when everyone started cheering for him. He made a new friend and asked if he could come back again next week.

The age group is 3-5 years old, but he is by far the tallest.

The league director asked me if I wanted to move him up to the 6-8 year old group. I nicely declined; he still needs to learn how to play the game.

Swimming Lessons!

Carter recently finished his first ever swimming lessons. We're members of the local YMCA and I was able to put Collin and Hunter in Childwatch so I could do the lessons with him. I really enjoyed the one-on-one time. The first day he was very brave and did everything, including going under the water, then we had a couple of noncompliant days. By the last few days he was back to his normal self and really liked swimming. He loves walking up and down the pool stairs. We did the lessons with some friends of ours from the ward which always makes things more fun!

I've mentioned that Collin no longer takes a nap, but he really does need one. He can be quite grumpy in the afternoons and ends up in time-out often. A few days ago he had a bloody periodically throughout the day. Well, around 3 p.m. his nose started to bleed again so I gave him a tissue and told him to hold still. He wanted to run around, but I told him he needed to be patient and sit down with the tissue held up against his nose. After a few minutes this is what I saw:

I purchased an excellent condition train table off of craigslist a month ago and the boys, especially Carter, loved it. It came with over 100 accessories and had storage bins below it. The problem though was space issues. We set it up in the living room, but it was cramping our style. The complaint from Logan was there was no longer any room for wrestling and playing rough (I saw this as a positive thing however) so we sold it. We told the boys we would get another one someday and they did surprisingly well. Now all we have are memories and pictures!

Collin turned 4 last week (8/13) and boy was he excited! We celebrated for a few days. On the big day we had a special breakfast and his birthday dinner (he wanted shrimp), opened presents (he got a big-kid bike from mom and dad), and went out for ice cream. Thursday Mimi and Papa came so we opened more presents and had cake. Friday we had his "out-to-eat" birthday dinner at Red Robin and on Saturday we had his official birthday party. All week he was saying, "I can't believe I'm four now mom!" He now goes around telling everybody he's four.

Carter's First ER Visit!

On 08/08/08 I was taking Carter to the bathroom at the gym when he decided to run up onto the stool he stands on to reach the potty. Well, the stool slipped out from underneath him and he bashed his chin on the toilet and then the floor. His chin split right open and immediately started to bleed. My thinking was 'oh great' because I knew we would be spending the next few hours at the hospital and I knew he was going to get wrapped up like a mummy and I was going to have to hold him down. All the times I had to do this to other kids in the ER I always thought that I was soooo glad I haven't had to do this to my own child! I called Logan at work and he was able to come home early to help me out. While waiting for his turn, Carter was running around the hospital like nothing had happened, but once he got into the room and wrapped up, he wasn't happy. He did pretty good considering the circumstances and ended up with three stitches. Hopefully we won't have to go back any time soon!

Hunter had his 4 month check-up and Collin had his 4 year old check-up today. Hunter received 3 shots today and Collin will be getting 3 shots on Wednesday. However, Collin persistently informs me he will not be getting any shots. Here are the new stats:

I think the medical assistant measured his length wrong because according to the numbers he shrunk and he has definitely grown taller, not shorter!

Hunter's First Haircut!

Logan cut/buzzed Hunter's hair for the first time a couple of weeks ago (July 26th). He was only three months old, but it was getting way too long. The poor kid could barely see! He looks much older now and people think he looks more like Collin. I've been meaning to take a better picture of it, but this will have to do for now.

My good friend, Robin, and her two kids came up from Pasadena to visit us last week. Robin and I met the first day of nursing school at BYU and became instant friends. We were nursing partners together (and we have some great, mostly gross, stories we could share) and then we lived in NYC at the same time for one year. We watched each other's child one day a week while the other went to work (Emma is Collin's first friend). Before this recent visit we last saw each other 1 1/2 years ago in Washington D.C., but we're always able to pick right back up where we left off (we also talk often on the phone).

We took them on the usual SF tour, rode the trains, went out to eat, watched movies, and had fun, fun, fun! The time went by too fast, but luckily we'll be seeing them shortly when we go to Disneyland and San Diego together in the next couple of weeks.

My dad and stepmom came to visit us from Alabama last week. We had a lot of fun and the kids did not want them to leave. We had serious visitor withdrawal (Collin was grumpy and kept crying for Grandpa to come back. He asked me to help him pack a bag so he could get on an airplane to go to his house). While they were here we did the usual San Francisco tour (Pier 39, Fisherman's Wharf, Ghiradelli Square) along with eating yummy food, watching movies, and playing with the boys. On Tuesday Dad, Beth, Hunter, and I went to Alcatraz. This is something I've wanted to do for awhile and it was pretty cool. We had a great time with them and wish it didn't go by so fast!

Pee Wee Sports Camp

Collin attended a sports camp for preschoolers at our local YMCA last week. He loved it! It is so fun watching him in this kind of environment. I think he was the youngest one there, but he held his own. A couple of days before the camp started, he and Logan went to get him a new pair of tennis shoes - he was quite excited. At camp he practiced basketball, soccer, and baseball (his favorite). He's already talking about doing it again next year.

Jelly Belly Factory

The Jelly Belly Factory is about 30 minutes from our house so on Friday we hoped into the car and went to tour the place. I thought it was very interesting. Did you know it takes 7-20 days to make one jelly bean? Collin enjoyed seeing how they were made. Carter enjoyed running all over the place more than watching and listening. The factory also has a candy store and lunch cafe. The boys shared a pizza shaped like a jelly belly and of course, we sampled lots of treats. Logan took the day off so that alone was great!

Where's the Hair?

Logan has been wanting to buzz the boys' hair for awhile now, especially with it being summer time. I've been reluctant because I think their hair looks better spiked. Logan said he was going to do it after we took family pictures (which we had taken a couple of weeks ago). I had a meeting before church on Sunday and when the boys walked in, I was quite surprised to see the new look! They were very excited to show me.

Happy 4th of July-Part I

We had a fun time celebrating the 4th. We went to some friends house and had a BBQ (tri-tip, watermelon, corn, etc.) and the kids played on a big, blow-up waterslide. I forgot my camera so once I get the pictures from my friend I'll post them. Later that night we went to a neighboring town's fireworks with a couple of families. Collin wasn't feeling too well on our way there and right as he got out of the car he threw-up all over the ground. He now tells everyone he blew hot dog chunks everywhere. Boys! After that he was his active, happy self and he, along with everybody else, enjoyed the evening!

It's Official . . .

Carter is potty trained! I didn't want to do it until after the summer, but the kid wanted to. He would insist on going potty every morning before his bath so a couple of Saturdays ago we went to the store and let him pick out his very own underwear. He of course chose Lightning McQueen. I put them on him and away we went. He loves going potty on the big boy potty. What's great is that we didn't have to bribe him with stickers, treats, or toys. He's extremely satisfied with getting to use toilet paper and then flushing the toilet and putting down the lid (softly)! He even goes #2 on the potty which was a big ordeal for Collin to initially do. The difference now between Carter and Collin going potty is that Collin only goes about 3-4 times a day and Carter goes at least 20-30 times. One day I think he went almost 50 times and I'm not exaggerating! It keeps me very busy, but now I don't have to change his diapers anymore or have him soak through his clothes, yes!

This pictures says so much. He's on our back patio eating a messy, homemade popsicle in his new big boy underwear, wearing a "I'm a Child of God" crown he made in nursery (he wore it everywhere for days in a row before it finally ripped). What a goofball!

Back in Action!

We recently got back from a two week vacation in Utah. We had lots of fun being with family, seeing old friends, eating at our favorite food joints, and just relaxing. After five minutes of being in the car on our way back home, Collin said that he wanted to go see Grandma. I told him it will be awhile since we just left. The day after we got home he asked me if we could go to Cami's and Cohen's (aunt and cousin) house as if we hadn't just been there. Here's the recap. . .

We decided to drive to Utah instead of fly because we have so many kids now and we wanted to have a vehicle while we were there. We made it to Reno the first day and stayed at an old-school Holiday Inn. The highlight of the stay was the boys getting to ride the luggage carrier out to the van the next morning.

FATHER'S DAY

We went to Logan's sister's house for a Father's Day BBQ. His two other sisters and their families were there also. All the cousins had a great time playing together. Collin especially likes playing with Riley and they get along incredibly well (I wish I could bring her home). We attempted to get a picture of all the kids and well, you can see how that went. As a side note, I want to mention how great of a dad Logan is. He works extremely long and stressful hours for our family and when he gets home he immediately starts throwing the boys around. They love it and I appreciate the break. I love him, the boys love him, and we are very grateful for him!

STRAWBERRY DAYS!

Need I say more?! I love this small town celebration. I'm so glad Logan had to meet with people in Utah during this same week so I could go to the rodeo, carnival, parade, and eat all the strawberries and cream I wanted.

We started the week off with a BBQ at the Warner's (they live right behind my mom). I always try to meet up with Aimee and friends each time I visit and the BBQ was perfect. Everyone brought their kids and they had that huge blow-up waterslide set up from Costco. Thanks for inviting us!

RODEO

Everyone loved the rodeo! Collin wanted to do the 'mutton-bustin' really, really bad so we tried to see if he could do it, but they already had too many people signed up. Maybe next year. The boys, even Hunter, did really well. For the 'half-time' entertainment the rodeo had motorcross bikers doing flips and stunts in the air which Carter especially enjoyed. Oh and did I mention strawberries and cream? I wanted to eat more, but I couldn't stuff anymore in.

PARADE!

We had to watch the parade before we took off for home. We had great, shaded seats thanks to Cami's friend and had a fun time. The boys got lots of candy and Collin scored a couple of cold drinks. Nothing beats a hometown parade and did I mention strawberries and cream? Yes, I ate more.

CARNIVAL

Last stop before road trip time was the carnival! We promised the boys a couple of rides before taking off. It is so fun watching them. They loved the rides (it gets me excited for Disneyland).

Cohen's Birthday Party

My sister's little boy turned three while we were there so we celebrated with a party in my mom's backyard. We had a blow-up bouncy castle (I think Logan and James had more fun in it than the little kids), hot dogs, cupcakes, and a swimming pool. My mom also has a miniature horse and goat in her yard that the kids love to play with. It was a fun afternoon and the boys were exhausted afterward!

He did pretty good with them, but I don't know why they don't have two nurses tag team him and give the shots at the same time. Logan's parents and his younger sister and her family came to visit us for the long weekend and to participate in Hunter's baby blessing. We had a fun time. We went into San Francisco to Wisherman's Wharf, Ghiradelli Square, and the Golden Gate Bridge. We also took them to the steam trains that we rode on last week. Sunday we had a memorable game night and then Monday was Patty's (Logan's mom) birthday so we celebrated at the Cheesecake Factory. Yum!

Hunter's Blessing Day

Here's my 7:

1-I don't like making extra "trips" (from the car, upstairs, etc). I will carry way more than I can handle so I don't have to go back and do it again.

2-I have darkness phobia. Something inside of me switches when it gets dark and I become a huge scaredy cat! I "hear" weird noises and freak myself out.

3-I love, love, love peanut butter! I have an english muffin with peanut butter on it just about every morning and a pb&j sandwich just about every day for lunch. I also love any treat that has peanut butter in it. Yum!

4-I don't like pushing my kids (or any kid) on the swings. Does this make me a bad mother? It's hot, boring, and they never want to stop!

5-I have a little bit of self-diagnosed OCD. I have to do things like laundry and cleaning on assigned days or I would have to do it every time I see an article of clothing in the dirty clothes basket or a crumb on the floor. Everything has a certain place where it is suppose to be, even stuff in the fridge. I can tell if somebody has been in my house or if something has been moved.

6-I love eating at Cafe Rio, Zupas, Junkies, and Wingers, all of which are not located anywhere close to me.

7-I'm a huge bargain shopper! It's more like a hobby. I love a good deal. I only like to buy things on sale and I love websites like craigslist. I also love garage sales; I've found some great stuff.

A Birthday and New Hair!

Another birthday has come and gone. They're not quite the same as when I was younger, but the boys love to celebrate any birthday (they solely associate treats with birthdays). We had a crazy morning that day. I had to go to the DMV with all 3 boys and they were completely out of control, I was so furious (think steam coming out of my ears), but later that afternoon I got to get my hair done (I finally found someone around here who didn't charge a fortune, but she's moving so the search is on again). Then Logan brought home some specialty cakes that were very yummy that topped the day off. Oh yeah, I also went and got a 1.5 hour massage the night before. . .ahhhhhh.

Tilden Park!

On Saturday morning we went to Tilden Park next to Berkeley (about 20 minutes away). There was a lake with a beach area that we investigated before we went to ride the steam trains. The boys loved the trains, especially Carter who is very into choo-choos. It was beautiful weather and we had a fun time!

At Collin's preschool on Thursday it was Mom's Day. I got to go to his class and they had a table set up for the moms with muffins and strawberries. Collin sat on my lap and gave me a homemade card and bookmark. He made me a placemat which he wrote H's all over. The teacher said he was very excited for me to come and I was excited to have some one-on-one time with him. After the snacks we read a book as a group and then hung out with kids on the playground. It was fun watching him interact with his classmates.

Father/Son Campout!

Friday night Collin and Logan got to go on their very first father/son campout with people from church. Collin was excited all day and couldn't wait to go! They pitched a tent (there wasn't much space left by the time they got to the camp site so their tent was on a little bit of a decline so they were sliding in their sleep), roasted hot dogs, made smores, and played with the other campers. There were about 30 kids who went and Collin was so tired from all the fun that he asked Logan around 10 pm if he could go to bed. They woke up bright and early and had breakfast (pancakes, sausage, fruit, and juice) before going to Rock City where everyone hiked around. Collin and Logan got home midmorning and both were exhausted, but Collin hasn't stopped talking about it!

Miniature Golf!

Collin has a weekly job/goal chart with about 5 things he is suppose to do each day (listen, clean up, etc). He gets 0 to 3 stars for each one depending on how well he did. We told him that after he got a certain number of stars he could go golfing with dad, just the two of them. He had never been before so he was very excited. Saturday was the big day and what was so sweet is that he really wanted Carter to go too. They went to an indoor course that was glow-in-the-dark with an animal theme (we had a hard time finding a place around here). Collin even got a hole in one! After golfing they played a couple of arcade games and then went out to lunch. They had a great time!

New Playhouse!!!

Logan and I have been wanting to get the boys a playhouse for awhile. Every time one would pop up on craigslist we would call on it, but it would already be taken. We were finally able to snatch one and Collin and Carter are very excited. It was kind of a gong show getting it (Logan took all the car seats out of the van and drove 35 minutes to get it just to find out two of the pieces were too big to fit inside. He later had to borrow a friend's truck to go get them.), but Logan and the boys put it together and they spent a couple of hours enjoying it. Hopefully now they will want to spend more time out there (we don't have a yard, just a small back patio) instead of me having to haul everyone to the park twice a day.

We told them it was a knight's castle.

Look Who's Two!

Our little Carter turned two on Thursday! I can't believe it; time flies by. I would ask him whose birthday it was and he would say 'two' and show me two fingers. My favorite parts of the day were when family would call and sing him 'Happy Birthday'. He would get the happiest smile on his face.

We celebrated the big day on Saturday with a small family party. He opened all his presents and then we had cupcakes. He chose vanilla with chocolate frosting. He didn't know how to blow out his candles so we asked him if he wanted Collin to do it and he said 'yes'. And then the stinker took one bite of the cupcake and said 'no, no'. He didn't want anymore, weird kid!

He got lots of presents and spent the rest of the day on the floor playing with them. His favorites are the jousting knight and horse, choo-choo trains, and Mac truck. Thanks to everyone who sent something. We had a great day celebrating our little guy!

Daddy's Day!

On Saturday, Collin's preschool had a Daddy's Day for a couple of hours. All the dads get to go to the school and they play games, make crafts, see their kid's classroom, and eat snacks. Collin loved it and Logan enjoyed spending one-on-one time with him. The above picture is what Collin said about his dad prior to the big day. I thought it was so funny. Logan feels young again (20) and we hardly ever eat mashed potatoes so I don't know where Collin came up with that. However, Logan knew it was his child who wrote it because of the play jousting part. We're always jousting in our house. Kids, you got to love 'em!

I know it's been awhile since I've posted anything so instead of writing much, I'll post pictures instead. Hunter had his 2 week appointment this last week and his new stats are as follows:

Weight: 10 lbs 5 oz (91%)

Height: 23 inches (99%)

Head Circumference: 14.5 cm (46%)

He still looks pretty skinny to me, but his cheeks are definitely getting chubbier!
